SHORT BIO
Justin Wu is an award-winning Toronto-based Film & TV Director, Photographer, Creative Director, and Speaker.
His journey began after pivoting from a conventional career in science and business to explore photojournalism and portrait photography. Quickly recognized as a talent to watch, Justin worked with global fashion giants like Vogue, Elle, and GQ across Europe, cementing his reputation as a creative force with a keen eye for storytelling.
His career soon evolved into filmmaking, where Justin has just wrapped his first studio feature, SIDELINED: THE QB and ME, set to premiere on Tubi this month. This highly anticipated film stars Siena Agudong, Noah Beck, James Van Der Beek, Deborah Cox, and Drew Ray Tanner.
Justin's directorial TV debut was on the internationally acclaimed Kim’s Convenience, which streamed on Netflix internationally. His standout episode earned him a nomination for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Comedy from the Director’s Guild of Canada (DGC) in 2021. Building on this success, Justin went on to direct Reginald The Vampire for Syfy, a stylized vampire dramedy starring Spider-Man’s Jacob Batalon. His other work includes directing episodes of Children Ruin Everything, now airing on the CW, and half a season of Gangnam Project, a BBC-CBC comedy set in the exhilarating world of K-Pop.
With a background in editing, Justin brings impeccable comedic timing, dynamic visuals, and sharp pacing to his projects. He is represented by The Characters Talent Agency, is a full member of the Directors Guild of Canada (DGC) and the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, and serves as an ambassador for Canon Canada and Global Citizen's Champion of Change initiative.
